Overview

The Wetmore Cafeteria renovation turns an underused cafeteria into a welcoming, multi-purpose gathering space for The Children’s Village. Designed to support both daily use and special events, the renovation provides a functional and inviting environment for children, families, and staff.

The Children’s Village serves foster children with the central goal of family reunification. The cafeteria now offers a comfortable setting where families can meet and connect, as well as a flexible meeting space for staff and faculty.

Tables can be grouped around a large central conference table or broken apart into smaller clusters. Seating is integrated with storage, allowing the room to shift seamlessly between formal meetings, communal meals, and casual gatherings.

The renovation also reimagined the existing kitchen, which previously functioned only as a grab-and-go area. It has been upgraded with additional pantry space, allowing it to support larger events and daily meal preparation.

Balancing functionality with comfort, the new cafeteria serves as a hub for meetings, events, and family gatherings, bringing people together in a space that feels open, flexible, and welcoming.
